First Asian University Cup in Sharjah, UAE
With 11 member nations and more than 40 universities, greatest number of spectators who was supporting our students, this was the most successful event in the APF history.
Venue and all facilities of the Cup, opening ceremony, entertainment for the students with visiting of the Islamic museum and a zoo - every moment of the tournament was unforgettable.
Asian Powerlifting Federation was delighted to welcome our Special guest from Asian University Sports Federation Ms. Yan Yetong, Vice Secretary General.
The Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) established in 1992 aims at providing a platform for all university students in Asia to exchange and interact through sports. The national university sports federation in each country/region may apply for membership of AUSF and join all programs and events organized by the Federation.
We would like to announce the 2nd Asian University Cup and invite our members to Hong Kong in 2024!
Additionally, it is worth noting that Special Olympics lifters took part at the last day of the Cup, where APF officials also welcomed His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah & President of the University of Sharjah and His Highness Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the President of the Emirates Bodybuilding and fitness Federation.
Asian Powerlifting Federation would like to thank everyone who was working hard to make the Asian University Cup and wrote the history of powerlifting in Asia. Our deepest gratitude to the University of Sharjah, Mr. Hamid Al Naimiy - University of Sharjah Chancellor, Mr. Eid Mohammad Kanaan - Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Salah Taher Mohamed Al Amiri - Manager of the 1st Asian University Cup.
And of course this competition would be impossible without help and support of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, the President His Highness Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Sharqi, General Secretary Mohammad Al Marri, APF Executive Committee member Faisal Alzaabi.
