APF President Farshid Soltani and APF Secretary General Tatiana Romanova were pleased to hold a video conference with a representative of the Olympic Council of Asia.
The meeting was facilitated by Aman Rai Vohra, General Manager of the Rajat Jayanti International Cricket Stadium and Director of the Asian Sub-Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championships in Dehradun, India.
The primary topics of discussion included key areas of collaboration and strategic steps for the development of powerlifting across Asia.
Essential requirements for APF member nations to be considered for inclusion in the Asian Games and other major OCA events were emphasized. These include:
• Establishing strong ties with National Olympic Committees (NOCs)
• Providing comprehensive statistical reports on all national-level tournaments
• Adopting international technical standards, as well as ethical, gender equality, and media policies
To support these initiatives, the Asian Powerlifting Federation will establish the APF Sports Development Committee, which will oversee a continent-wide research effort aimed at collecting national-level data on powerlifting.
A critical next step is for all member nations to strengthen their relationships with their respective NOCs and actively participate in future OCA-related applications.
Further announcements will be made in due course.
